Cast When Dmg Taken Support Full
I've posted this on Reddit but I think it might be useful to post it here as well. I always find it time-consuming to switch back and forth between pages on the Path of Exile Wiki to find out which level is the optimal one for all the gems I link in my various CWDT setups while planning out my builds. Today I've made a quick chart so I can plan my setups faster. Maybe this exists somewhere else already. I can add gems on it if asked to, just post the list in the comments. I've only included the few ones I usually link in my own setups, and a couple others which have been asked for. 'Cast When Damage Taken' Setup Planning Chart What is a 'Cast When Damage Taken' Setup ? If you are a new player, know that this is one of the most important types of mechanics you need to get acquainted with in Path of Exile. The support gem 'Cast When Damage Taken' (CWDT) is used to automatically cast one or more spells linked to it when you are dealt a certain amount of damage (of whatever type). The full description of the gem can be found here : For example, if you level the gem up to Level 5, it will trigger every time you take an amount of 812 damage, and when triggering it will cast (always in the same order, as indicated on the Wiki page I've just linked) the spells (not attacks or warcries or other types of skill gems) that you have linked to it. Usually, a build will include 1 or 2 CWDT setups which will serve as utility setups for defensive purposes. For example, on this character you can see I have two different setups :
This chart is simply a tool to figure out quickly up to which level you can bring each spell gem you want to have triggered by a certain CWDT level gem, without going over the level limit of the CWDT gem. For example, a Level 1 CWDT gem can only support spell gems requiring a level or 38 or lower. So you need to make sure that whatever is the level of the spells you link to it, the required level to use the gems is 38 or lower. For example, if your CWDT gem is at Level 15, and you want to link Molten Shell to it, you cannot bring your Molten Shell gem higher than Level 18, otherwise it won't trigger. The support gems you would use, for example, to increase the duration of Molten Shell, can be leveled up all the way to Level 20+, since they support a spell triggered by CWDT, they are not triggered by it themselves. If there are any typos and/or mistakes, or if you want to see a gem added on the list, just mention it in the comments. Cheers! Just found this and it's awesome. Yes this information is all on the wiki, but not on the same page in one chart. | Posted by on Mar 11, 2017, 8:47:10 PM |
As a noob, this is a great explanation and chart. Both are super useful. Thank you! | Posted by on Mar 15, 2017, 3:47:28 PM |

Cast When Damage Taken Support Gems
Cast on damage taken: Ice Nova - This slows and slightly damages everything around you after breaking the damage threshold of the On Damage Taken, giving you time to use a potion or leap away from the danger zone. Can also be combined with Knockback Support to give even more room, more for survival than damage dealing. https://qncoflu.weebly.com/blog/dmg-apee-usa-1. Perhaps one of the neatest corollaries of the gem and socket system is the concept of PoE Cast When Damage Taken (“CwDT”). CwDT allows you to build a character that automatically fights back as you take damage, without requiring any additional action on your part! CwDT: A Primer. CwDT is, at its core, a pretty simple concept. Xamarin studio mac download how to on mac.
